Patmos Island
Divine touch…
Among the azure waters of the Aegean Sea lies the island of Patmos full of peace and tranquility.
Patmos is one of the holy places of Christianity and a monument of world cultural heritage. The island has many monasteries for women and men, ascetic places high in the mountains or even on some cliffs among the sea, and small churches scattered among the medieval streets. But above it all stands the monastery of St. John, who ruled the island for three centuries.
Chora of Patmos is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the few autonomous, medieval settlements in Greece that have retained their character uninterruptedly since the 12th century.
The town is quite beautiful and is comprised of whitewashed houses, grand manors, splendid small squares, a number of churches and narrow alleyways.
Skala is the port and capital town of Patmos Island and is the busiest settlement on the island.
Patmos is also known for its stunning beaches and crystal-clear waters that attract beachgoers and water sports enthusiasts. Some of the most popular beaches on the island include Psili Ammos, Agriolivado, Kambos, and Agios Theologos.
