Antiparos is a small island in the Cyclades
The island of superstars and the elite!
The small island of Antiparos, Paros's famous neighbor, winked at us... Just an 8-minute ferry ride from Punta Paros, and we find ourselves in this beautiful corner of the Aegean Sea!
All the beauty of the Cyclades is concentrated on this small island of Antiparos...
This hot summer destination has become a favorite among the international elite. Famous Hollywood couple Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson were the first foreign artists to fall in love with this island. They left the Bahamas and built a palace (480 m!).
Among the famous guests who love to come here are Prince Albert and Charlene, Steven Spielberg, Madonna, of course, and Sakis Rouvas, who doesn't want to miss the opportunity to visit this paradise every summer.
The first thing you see upon arriving at the port of Antiparos are the picturesque fishing boats and the multitude of cafes and tavernas lining the waterfront. A cobbled alley leads from the port to the Venetian Castle, the traditional old village of Antiparos, the only village on the island. The castle is located in the central square next to the Cathedral of St. Nicholas.
All the streets are decorated with whitewashed courtyards in bloom, cascading bougainvillea and geraniums, and a stroll through these streets is the best thing we can do. This village is about 500 years old and is regularly visited.
There are numerous hotels, apartments, and luxury villas here, most of which are located in the port, but many are also located on the island itself.
The island's highest peak is Prophet Elias Mountain. The island's landscape is typically Cycladic: sparse vegetation and hills covered with shrubs, disappearing among golden sands.
Swimming Beaches
Antiparos' diverse coastline includes sandy beaches with small coves and turquoise waters. Choose from the beaches of Psaralikes and Sifnikos, Theologos, and Agios Georgios.
Antiparos Cave
The famous Antiparos Cave, which has made the island famous, is located on the southeastern side, just 9 km from the port.
At the entrance to the cave lies a huge cluster of stalagmites—the oldest in Europe, dating back 45 million years. To see even more impressive stalactites and stalagmites within its halls, you need to descend the 411 steps into the cave.
What we experienced: excitement, awe, and admiration for what nature created millions of years ago in the depths of Antiparos!
- Perhaps it's time for dinner;
You can choose whatever you like. And all the local tavernas offer traditional dishes you definitely must try!
This island is truly worth renting a small boat to reach Despotikos and take a tour of this quiet and mysterious island located opposite Antiparos.
It resembles the island of Dilos, full of sculptures.
It has only one remaining inhabitant – a shepherd and his goats!
Don't miss the opportunity to visit the sea caves. Captain George and his boat, "Sheepshead," are always ready and willing to take you to places you'd never expect... sea caves and pristine beaches...
Can you remember ever seeing such a beautiful landscape?
The cliffs of the Cyclades... the unique color of the sea... so blue it looks like... paradise!
But if you think we've told you everything about this island, you're mistaken!
