Larissa is a city in Thessaly, the seat of the municipality of Larisaion and the capital of the Larissa Regional Unit. It is the seat of the Region of Thessaly, as well as of the Decentralized Administration of Thessaly - Central Greece.
It is an important commercial center and hub of communications and transportation, while the area is famous for its agricultural production as it is located in the Thessalian Plain. The city is crossed by the river Pinios and to the N.-NE. Olympus and Kissavos extend to it.
