Skopelos is an island of Sporades that amazed all its visitors every year!
Skopelos is one of the emerald islands of the Sporades. The capital of the island is Hora which has a lot of colors of the island. The old town of Skopelos has been declared and preserved settlement is a part of the national cultural heritage.
Walk through the narrow streets admiring the whitewashed houses with colorful bougainvillea, visit the Folklore Museum, and walk the paved waterfront close to numerous cafes and restaurants!

Cinephile will be richly rewarded for making the trip to Skopelos island in Greece, where they were shot. Most parts of the movie, particularly the outdoor scenes, were shot on this unspoiled island.
Do you wonder why are scattered around the island so many churches and chapels?
The island has 360 churches: it is called according to local legend, when was happened an Asia Minor catastrophe in 1922, the Greek population who line in Turkey threw pictures into the sea to save themselves from the cruelty of the Turks. The images wandered around the Aegean Sea and arrived in Skopelos, so when people found some pictures they built a church!
The city Glossa is built like an amphitheater on the slope of the mountain and has a quiet harbor Loutraki. From here you can see another island of the Sporades the island Skiathos.
Climb to the top of the huge rock in Kastri and the church of St. Ioanni will amaze you. If you will come to the island on 29 August you will take part in the biggest festival on Skopelos!
Beaches:
The beach Stafilos with its crystal clear water is the most popular and close to the Hora. You can get to the other beach Velanio swimming or on foot; this beach is comfortable for nudists. The Panormos is a large sheltered bay with crystal clear.
The Antrines is an idyllic location with secluded bays and small trees that touch the sea.
The Milia is an ideal place for relaxing with clear water and small pebbles.
On Skopelos, you will find a lot of hotels and apartments, taverns with good traditional Greek food, and also a lot of offices where you can rent a car.
The island is well known for the development of honey and big plumps that you can eat in taverns with meat.
Do not forget to taste the cheese pie of Skopelos (pie with local cheeses and twisted dough) or treat yourselves to dishes from fresh fish, shrimp, and lobsters. The local walnut pie is another specialty and is usually served food with ice cream.
The nightlife is in the city of the Skopelos. Many bars are located on the dock and around the city. At night the Hora is alive, everywhere in bars and taverns and nightclubs is playing Greek or foreign music.
